Great progress lias been made with the alterations to increase'accommodation at the various county cricket grounds in England. Briefly, these improvements are: Lord’s: Old grandstand pulled down and new steel and concrete structure erected in its place. Nursery end of mound stand' reconstructed, doubledecker stand on cantilever principle being built there. Increased seating accommodation for 5000. ■ Taunton: Enclosure banked all round; seating reconstructed. Oval: Old corrugated stand on east side pulled down; east wing of pavilion extended; new mound erected; Vauxhall end enlarged. Increased accommodation, 5000. Old Trafiord: New stand costing 100,000 dollars on popular side. Northampton: Room lor an additional 1000. Trent Bridge: Two new covered stands, which will increase accommodation by 5000 and raise ground’s holding capacity to 25,000. Gloucester have a portable stand (to hold 2000), that can, if necessary, be taken from one ground to another.
