GISBORNE FIRE BOARD.

THE ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Gisbcrnc Fire Board was held yesterday, there being present Messrs. G. Wildish (chairman), K. Adair, J. L. Kirker. B. S. Bree. I). W. Coleman, I). S. Jamison and T. Todd.

A letter was received from (lie Christchurch Fire Board asking for support to a proposal,that imprisonment should he inflicted in cases where malicious false alarms were given. It- was dcj aided that as the Fire Brigades’ Act gave a Magistrate power to inflict a line or order imprisonment, that they I would take no action.

A letter was received from the maker of the siren for the station, stating that it would he ready in four months’ time. —Received.

The.’Board lias recently beeni considering its by-laws and these came up yesterday for final approval. Tt was decided to submit them to the Minister of Internal Affairs for authority to have them made law.

Committees were set up as follows: Works committee, Messrs 0. Wildish T. Todd, 1). S. Jamieson, and D. W Coleman; finance committee, Messrs C Wildish, R. Adair, B. S. Bree, and J. R Kirker.
