j . «s» ! FROM JEWELLER'S WINDOW. DIAMONDS WORTH £4OOO TAKEN. TOOWOOMBA, May 31. A sensational jewel robbery occurred hero between 6 and 8 o'clock to night, when, in very daring fashion, Ihe front window of S. 0. Priest's jewellery shop, in Ruthvon street, was cleared of valuable diamond rings and unset diamonds of a total value of about £4OOO. I The manner in which the robbery 'was carried out indicates Ihat probn-Uy more than one individual was engaged in il. The thieves cleared mil the brilliantly-lighted window, which, at the time, must have been within view of scores of persons passing along the street. From a lane running past the whole length of the shop the robbers were able to approach the batik. Then, | having mounted a tank, they could ! reach a window, which Was protected by two sets of iron bars. They sawed through these, and by bending them I'back gained entrance to the shop. 1 As well as set and unset, diamonds iliv thieves took valuable go'.d stands on which jewellery was displayed. One j unset diamond which was carried off lis valued at, £2OO.
