HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.
WAIROA'S INCREASING/ DEMAND
(Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. 'For the quarter just ended, the Wairoa Borough used 147,926 units of electricity, (lie total for tho year beinf 596,555 anils, showing a healthy progress, which the Borough officials expect will continue.
To such an extent has electricity become popular, that the engineer declares that the load to come on during the next few months will bring the Council up to its limit unless the Power Board can be induced to agree to a higher demand. If unable to do so, further additions might, have to cease. For March,'a total of 55,716 units were used, an advance cf over 51 per cent, on the corresponding month of last year, when 36,806 units were taken up. Of the total, the \streefc lighting absorbed 2382 units, making the Borough ono of the best lighted in the Dominion. It is becoming a common thing for hosts to now take their visitors to the top of To U'hi hill to observe Wairoa under the electric light. It makes a rather pretty sight, too, on dark Saturday nights when the business places are open. ,
