IRISH MINISTER DISCUSSES MATTERPREDICTING DEVELOPMENTS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) OTTAWA, April 14. Professor Smiddy, Irish Free State Minister at Washington, told an audience at the Canadian Club, including Parliamentarians, that the best minds in Great Britain were opposed to setting down Any definite bounds to restrict the evolution of the British Empire. If any part of the' Empire declined to participate in a war in which Britain was engaged, and tho enemy would only refrain from attacking that part on condition that it seceded from the Empire, what would be the result? . He conconsidered there was a danger of such a situation arising through any question which might involve war being acted upon by Britain until there had been a complete understanding by joint deliberations. in which each self-governing part of the Empire would have an equal voice. Mr. Smiddy pictured the day when tho Empire would develop into a grelter unity of nations. ,
