IRISH LAD’S ARDENT WOOING. ’ VISIT TO 1 GIRLS’ HOSTEL. The ardent wooing of a young Irish lad, Lawrence Carr, had an unhappy sequel at the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court this morning, when he was proceeded against for being on the grounds of the High School Girls’ Hostel without having the necessary permission. The escapade, it was, stated , was the outcome of a case of ‘‘calf 16ve” between Carr and ope of the schoolgirls, and had no serious aspects. In view 'of N the accused’s excellent character no penalty was inflated. Mr! T. A. Coleman appeared for the accused, who admitted the offence. Senior-Sergeant Fitzpatrick.stated that the accused,' during.the school holidays, had met, and become attracted by a girl -who Was attending the' High School and lodged at the hostel.' When the school resumed after the holidays he was anxious to continue'the' friendship, fin'd made, an appointment to meet the girl in the hostel grounds' at 8 o’clock one evening. Unfortunately, when he arrived he met the matron, and the prosecution was the sequel.
