The overseer to the Waikohu County & made the following report to the Council to-day regarding the work of the past 0 month: Motu Riding.—The contractors have sf# completed the spawhng of the Motu Valley road as tar as the school near Briant’s, and this, providing that heavy ’ traffic is kei>t off, .should allow sett Lei s ' to get in aii'd out all the winter. The V metalling at Matawai, from Mortleman s ’ Rridge to the railway, together with the pieces in the township and on side • streets. <is in hand. The tractor is engaged carting maintenance metal on tiie i‘ .dotit ' Valley road, and when finished •will again be put on to repair the Matawai-Motu-hora road. 'I lu> grader mid tractor are employed cleaning uateitables and trimming up the main road from Matawai towards Otoko. the quarry gang lias been shifted to Motu, ami wil” get out stone ready for the crusher, which sliotiid be available m a,bout two weeks. Maintenance metal will he crushed for the. main rood, Motu to Motuhora and the Tails road, the bridge at Norte's has now been erected, and will be opened for traffic next week. Waihuka Ruling.—The grader gong is on the main road, and will trim up and grade the wotertables. It is intended to use the tractor and grader to clean up tfie rabble on the Otoico bill. Pipes have been sent up the front road to replace old wooden culverts. The carpenters are engaged erecting the small bridge on the. Poututu deviation, and should finish it* this week. , Tho piece of tarred road at Waikohu has been recoaled-. As soon as the cfUsher starts at Motu it is intended to. get metal from there to do up the station road at Rakattroa. Maintenance lias been carried out as usual. Waipaoa. Riding.—A contract for work on Armstrong Road has been let, and tl|p contractor lias made a start carting y the metal. Mangatu Riding.—Pipes have been sent up to the Mangatu load to replace olu ■ culverts: Maintenance has been carried out as usual. Ngatapa Riding.—The contractor lias finished the metalling on the Wharekopae hill, and this will be blinded as soon as passed by the Public Works Department. The contractor on tho Taiunata road is making progress. Ordinary maintenance has been carried out. Kanakanaia Riding.—The lorries are engaged carting maintenance metal. The . Roller is scarifying the old surface, the new metal then being spread and rolled. Knrnka. Hiding.—The. metalling of. Grahams road has been completed. Metalling has also been completed as far a,s Mullooley’s gate on Scott’s road, and metal has also been placed on the •bad plaqes on tho other end; pipes liaVe' been delivered on this road and will be \ put in shortly: Contracts have been let for metalling on tho main road, Pitcher's road, and several depots between Puha and Kaitaratahi. Tiie contractor for metalling on Humphrey's and Lavenham road intends to start this work about Hie end of the week. The surfaceman lias been engaged cleaning, watertables and 'patching surface of road where ndfeessary.
