BANKING RETURNS.
ADVANCES' AND DISCOUNTS EXCEED DEPOSITSMARCH QUARTER’S FIGURES. (Per Press Association 1 \ WELLINGTON, last night. The banking returns for the March quarter show the following comparisons with the corresponding quarter 'of 1925:-*-Government deposits: £4,012,194, an increase- of £818,580. Fred deposits.: £26,865,849, a decrease of £2.899,668. Fixed deposits: £2,436,628, an increase of £394,907. Advances: £46,372',391, an increase uf £4.346,351. Discounts: £1.914,837, an increase of £510,625. Note circulation-. £6,784,981, an increase of £100,935. Coin and bullion: £7,791,454, an increase of £65,530. In the quarter just ended tin- advances mid discounts exceed deposits by £984,661, while a year ago the deposits showid an excess of £6,165,955. In 1924 the deposts were £2,629.769 ahead.
