PASSENGERS’ DEATHS.
MOTOR CAR SMASH. ‘‘ C ULPAIiLE NEGLIGENCE, > ’ VERDICT AT INQUEST. (Per Presa Association.) ROTORUA, last night. The inquest into the death of Tieri Tetikao eoncluded last night. Deceased was killed instantly and his wife, Tank hi, died three weeks after from an injury to her spine as a result of an accident to a service car driven by .Mrs Cattanaeh between Tauranga and Rotorua. After a prolonged hearing, the, jury brought in a. verdict that the deceased was killed as Ike result of an accident to a service ear driven by Airs Cattanaeh, at the 15-inile, peg, oil December 26, 1025; that the deceased lady died on January 16.' 1926, of injuries owing to the same cause, and the jury were of opinion that Mrs Cattanaeh was guilty of culpable negligence in allowing a passenger to ride on the footboard, thereby .taking.her attention off the road and causing tlm car to fall over a bank. They were of opinion that her service license should be cancelled.
