NOT DETERIORATING.
“ONLY ONE ENGLAND.’’ SIR YYM. CULLEN’S VIEW: LONDON, Nov. 12.—’‘Despite tho monstrous Oxford ‘bags’ and other eccentricities, 1 do not believe for one minute that England is going to the dogs. Her people are ns healthy, vigorous, mid sound ns ever,” said the former N.S.W. Chief Justice, Kir William Cullen, on returning to London after motoring for months throughout England, accompanied by his wife and daughter. The tourists boiled their billy and camped a.s in Australia, Kir William completely recovering his health. “Though conditions have vastly changed since my last visit, in 1338. when i was briefed in a Privy Council ease,” he said, “still there is only one England, and only one London. The English people are, perhaps, the hardest in the world to know, but they are a great people, and not decadent. I have tremendous faith in the character of the race, and have not the smallest doubt that it will overcome its difficulties. It should not- be judged on a few passing phases. One need not fear Communism. The British workingman is British, and that means everything. I do not see signs of deterioration of the people’s morale. The new generation does not shock me much.
