Terrible north-easterly gales struck the East Coast, accompanied by heavy falls of snow.
A Scottish drifter foundered at- Flamborough Head. Tho lifeboat .was launched, hut failed to sn\o eight aboard.
Eight others were drowned at Redcar, where ti small motor ship was driven on the rocks in sight ol a big crowd ashore. Numerous other casualties are reported.
