OUT OF SEASON.
OPOSSUM TRAPPERS FINED. (Per Press - A spec'a t mu.; WELLINGTi N, this day. France Lawrence L'inrk and Maurice Eric Field were dim red at the .Magistrate’s Court, with illegally taking opossums before the reason opened. Both pleaded guilty/ line police stated that the skins were purchased by a firm of brokers in Wellington, but the firm denied the purchase. This firm uas equally liable with the trappers. The chief detective said he understood the case had come to Court through ad missions by accused as the result of a dispute between them add the brokers regarding payment for the skins. Accused gl-ated in Court that the taking of opossums before the season opened was a general thing, and the rangers seemed to be shutting their eyes to it. Accused were fined £25 each and allowed a month in uliieh to pay.
