We have received a number of letters, obviously from the same source, with signatures which will riot pass muster as being genuine. It is necessary that the correct nariies arid addresses ol writers should he given as evidence of good faith; otherwise the communications go into the waste paper basket. The highly satisfactory total of £75 15s was raised by the pupils of the Uisborne High School in the course of a two-day special effort on behalf of the Dr. Barnardo Homes, in London. The various forms conducted their own enterprises, and parents liberally responded to the call for extra pocketmoney. Onfe phase of the operations was the sale of ice-cream by the pupils of one form, while the girls of another advertised used safety-razor blades for pencil-sharpening at Jd each. The spirit of friendly rivalry was encouraged by the promise of a half-holiday for the class which made the most successful effort. One previous “drive” conducted by the school pupils returned about £25, but the collections made on Friday and Monday trebled the sum.
