A SECRET SUPPLY.
LIQUOR IN NO LICENSE AREA. In the Magistrate’s Court at Masterton on Friday, Alexander*Gay, a. board-ing-bouso proprietor, was lined £25 for keeping liquor for sale in a no-lieenso area. Arthur Barnes, a lodger in the house, was fined a similar amount on a charge of selling liquor. 'Witnesses for the prosecution deposed that the police after thoroughly searching Gay’s house discovered that the two decorative mouldings under tlio mantleshelf in a bedroom were loose, and by the insertion of a hatpin in a small hole a spring was released and the moulding sprung out, disclosing a large cavity. In one of these was secreted six bottles of whisky.
