Devastating wild storms struck the Atlantic Coast States, resulting in Hie death of at least 2.1 persons. Heavy damage was clone to homes and shipping. In Alabama a tornado, sweeping in from the Texas coast, killed sixteen, injured more than a score, and levelled dozens of houses. In Woburn, Massachusetts) 500 houses were damaged. ’ In Baltimore 17 navy seaplanes, assembled for manoeuvres in connection with the Schneider cup races, broke from their moorings, and seven of them were completely' wrecked: and others badly' damaged. A telegram from Karachi dated October 25 says: A Daily Gazette from Bushire states that an earthquake accompanied the gulf cyclone, wherein it is estimated 7000 perished. The pearl fishing fleet was practically wiped out. Over 200 boats were sunk. Naval ships in the 'gulf lost two of their boats, one whereof was subsequently recovered. Mrs. Lucille Grey was hanging out clothes from a. fifth storey apartment window when a gust of wind blew her out. An ambulance rushed her body to the hospital in time for surgeons to perform the Caesarean operation and deliver a child alive.
