CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association management committee was held last evening, Mr V. C. R. Milford presiding. Letters were read from the N.Z. Nomads’ Cricket Club asking for a match with the Poverty Ray reps, on January 1 and 2. The request was approved, and permission was also granted to the Nomads to play Waiapu on the Oval on the two following days, if desired. A motion to the effect that the competition be suspended for this Saturday, owing to clashing with the races, was withdrawn after discussion. The draw was as follows: City v. High School, No. 3 ground; United v. Old Boys, No. 4. The P.B. Club v. Gisborne Club match will he commenced on November 7, and the Association later .will decide whether it is necessary to finish it.
It was reported that the United Club would enter two teams in the second grade, and the grade matches would commence on Saturday, the draw being as follows: Old Boys v. United A, No. 1 gr6und; United B, a, bye. Ground fees for players in lite second grade were fixed at 6d per player. The ground committee was instructed to prepare another practice wicket, to meet the demands of the players. Attention having been drawn to the fact that one or two ears had been run across the playing, pitches last Saturday, it was resolved that any further offences of this kind would result in ears being debarred from the ground. Space is at present available around the margin of the Oval. . Messrs A. C. Cooke, O. B. Olsen, and W. J. Scholium were appointed a selection committee. i
