THE SESSION’S WORK.

SURVEYED BY MR. LYSNAR.

IMPORTANT BUSINESS TO COME

Discussing the work of th 0 session, Mr. W. I). Lysnar,, M.l’., stated thin morning that the conclusion of the debate oil the Budget last Friday left the coast clear for general work to be. proceeded with. The. Public Accounts bad yet to be dealt with, and wGu.d probably prove somewhat contentious, but the debate on these would be confined to Fri days. - . Up to t.ha present, said Mr. Lysnar, about seven want of confidence motions had. been movafl and dealt with by the House. It was possiblo that more would bb moved while the Public Ac counts were under consideration, but it was-hoped that they had seen the last of them for the .session, as they seri ously delayed the work of Parliament. With the disposal of the Budget the committees would be able to commence work, , and deal with such matters as petitions. The important legislation, particularly that. dealing with taxation, had not yet been brought forward, but would be dealt with in due course. Questioned regarding the position of the railway survey between Gisborne and Wairoa, Mr. Lysnar stated that lie had not yet received any reply to the question he Had addressed to the Minister of Railways in the House in connection with the rival routes. He expected, .however, that'he. would receive an answer some time next week. In reference to the question of an agricultural bank, Mr. Lysnar said he regretted that nothing definite had y?t been done, as there Was no doubt that such an institution -was urgently required to. assist the Dominion as a whole. It was proposed to send representative® away to other countries to make enquiries, and when their report' was presented to. legislate upon the matter. Details were now under consideration and might be settle! at any time, and in the meantime lie could hot say anything definite.
