The contractor for the execution of the Tawhar/: drainage works, has commenced operations, and is already making good progress. A four-foot concrete culvert or drain is being put in to carry off flood waters from a considerable area of county lands. The drain has been commenced at the river just at the western boundary of the borough and lias now reached the edge of the main Wairoa-Napier road. The associated stock auctioneers held their usual sale at North Clyde on Friday, to a large attendance of the public.
