POLITICAL CAMPAIGN.
THE COERCION! CHARGE. (Special to Uio Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. Allegations of attempted coercion on the, part of a fellow-employee, representing himself as collecting for the Labor party’s Parliaiiientary campaign, are made by an Auckland workman. He stated that about a. fortnight ago lie was approached and asked to sign a paper promising to giro a shilling a week until November l. Not being a supporter of the Labor party, although a unionist, iio refused to contribute, and stated lie was not in sympathy with the party’s aims. He was thereupon told that if lie would not give tile money ho would be discharged within three weeks. Ot her men who refused to con tribute had been told the same thing. “I realised that it was bluff,” he continued. “Nevertheless, if such methods are _ employed now, what would happen if the Labfir party, got. into .power?”
