TOKOMARU BAY.

The port has been busy the last few days. On the 2nd inst.'the s.s. Hertford arrived from Auckland to load wool for Home ports, taking away 926 bales; the Auahou arrived with cargo and IC3 bales of wool for transhipment) ovcibidc to the Hertford, while the Mako canio iron) Napier with cargo for here, and took awav 441 bales wool for Nauier.

The Council's staff aie at present busy grading and metalling the branch road at Waima, leading to the freezing works slock vards.

The fortnightly meeting of the Tokoma.ru Bay Lodge, 108, 1.0.0. F., was held in the lodge room oil Wednesday evening, 3rd 1 inst, being presided over by Bio. Churches, I.P.G. Bio. Miles, X.G. Star of Gisborne Lodge, was up here on a visit, and 'conveyed fraternal greetings from the Gisborne lodges. The N.G. lesponded, and' expressed regret at the paucity of attendance on the occasion of Bio. Miles' visit. The nomination and election of officers and also initiation takes place next meeting night, the 17th inst.. when it is to be hoped all members will do their best to be present. The Aupouri arrived from Gisborne and Napier on the sth inst, with 16,000 super, fest timber and 20 tons general cargo. Owing to a heavy swell it was impossible to complete discharge at the wharf. She had 1 to anchor in the stream until the next morning, when the work of unloading her 1 was continued. She left finally for Auckland at noon on Saturday.

A house at Wainiii was completely gutted as the result of ;i fire tluit broke out about 1 p.m. on Sunday morning. It was owned by Mr. Delemcix:, and l was to have been leased by Mr. W. C Brydon, who had made arrangements for its renovation. At the lime of the fir© the house was occupied by several natives.— (Own correspondent).
