Alls AV. Parkinson, aged 71. of Wattle Flat, New South Wales, lias provided a further illustration of the toughness of the pioneer. She has - survived the terrible ordeal of spending the night in the bush clad only in bet* nightdress and an ovCrcoat. and with the temperature 15 degrees below freezing point.
Airs Parkinson Was disturbed from her slumbers at, midnight by a cow carrying a noisv bell. She got up. and. with tlnv aid of a hurricane- lamp, drove a herd of cattle out of tlic paddock. Rul when returning she stumbled down a steep embankment, and the lamp went out. She was badly shaken, and decided f:o sit ,bil the embankment until daybreak. She frequently “coo-eed ;” but no one heard Tier.
Of course All’s Parkinson is suffering from her Cxocrience; but not- seriously. That she displayed wisdom in not at tempting- to negotiate file rough country in Hie dark was manifest at daybreak, when almost at her feet she discovered a six-feet wntorliole covered with inches of ice.
