GOLF TOURNAMENT.
GISBORNE PLAYS NAPIER. WINS FOUR-BALL EVENT. BY SIX GAMES TO ONE. A team of Napier golfers arrived by the Arahura this mornitig, and are enin playing representatives of 'the local golf club. This morning a four-ball event was played, the Gisborne players beating their opponents by six games to one. Of the eight games, Gisborne won six, Napier one, and the other game was drawn. Conditions on the links early iti the morning were not very pleasant, owing to the heavy rain, but. towards
mid-day the sup shone through - and the balance of the games were played in the sunshine. The Napier team were the guests of the local club at luncheon, which was served by the lady members of the club. The team returns to Napier by the boat to-night. The results of the individual games are as follows, the names of the Napier players being given first:—, Kapi' Tareha and Troutbeck beat G. M. Dodgshun and O. W. Willock. F. C. Fryer and E. C. Smith lost to N. IT. Bull and J. Barns-Graham. J. B. Logan and F. V. Kettle, all square with R,. Iveiha and R. J. Clark. R. W. Dalgleish and II J. Smith lost to L. Balfour and R. Willock. H. G. Dines and N. Kettle lost to G. Kelly and K. M. Hutchinson. C. H. Heighten and M. R. Grant lost to J. N. Bullard and C'. H. Wells. L. F. MacClurg’’ and J. Hindmarsh lost to J. TT. Bull and S. A. Gover. E. H. Kerr and A. E. La,wry lost, to E. Adair and H Clay.
