ALLEGED HOTEL THEFTS.

Walter Arthur Harrington, teller in the National Bank at Palmerston North, stated that- on July 21 a. client, William Black, had cashed a cheque for £ICO. receiving five £2O notes, which were numbered 2765. 3585, 2753, 0458, and 2906. Four of these notes were drawn on the National Bank, and one of the notes produced in Court was included in •those given to Mr. Black. This closed the case for the prosecution. Both accused pleaded not guilty, reserved their defence, and were committed for trial to the next session of the Supremo Court. Detective McLeod objected lo the accused’s application for bail, stating that the' Supreme Court would sit on August 25.
