BRITAIN TO LEND AUSTRALIA 34
MILLIONS,
(Received July 31, 10 a.m.) ! •MELBOURNE, July 31. Draft agreements for the operation of the new migration proposals have been received by Mr. Bruce. It is proposed! that Britain should lend the Commonwealth 34- millions sterling for land settlement and development work, and that the Commonwealth, in turn, should' lend money to the States, who will administer the expenditure. As the Commonwealth and Britain share the larger part of tfie ihterest charges, the States will receive the money at a nominal interest.
The Federal Parliament will discuss the proposals before definiteiaction .is Taken.
