TOKOMARU BAY.

The monthly bogey handicaps of the Tokomaru. Bay Golf Club xvere played last week and a record number of players for the club took: part in spite of the very inclement weather. P. R, Ford ham (9), 3 down, proved to he the winner, being followed by G. Busby (.12), 4 down, K. R. JeffOrd (16), 4 down, F. V. Carpenter (14), (’ll) arid A Morgan (22), 7 down.

A concert in aid of the funds of the Tokomaru. Bay native school was held in the Te Puka, Hall on Friday ex’-en.-ing. The hall was comfortably filled. Musical items xvere rendered by pakohas and Maoris, and the school children gave a physical drill display. Mr. Fraser, the schoolmaster, assisted by Miss Le Hu ray, organised the concert, and Mrs. Gclt.wnUz, presided at the piano.

A number of ladies met, at the residence of Mrs. Angus, Waima, on Monday afternoon, to farewell Mrs. Brydon, who is leaving the district after-ii, residence of 10 years. Among those present, were Mesdnmes W. (kites, sour., Johnstone, Whitmore, Steed, Fairlic, W. Brydon, Jackson. Powdvill, King, Scott, Banslev, Porter, and Now-land, and lire Misses Cuswoiih, Smith and Jackson. Miss Ousworth, mi behalf of those gathered there, presented Mrs. Brydon with a cheque. During the course of the afternoon Miss A. 'Smith, the headmistress of tli e Tokcmanv Bay school, gave a very interesting account of her tour throitgh Canada while over there studying the Canadian educational system.— (Own correspondent.)
