NGATAPA NOTES.
There were two football matches here last Saturday, when Kaiti City Juniors defeated our local fifteen by 12 to 0. For Hie winners tries were scored by Robinson, Borst, Green and McDonald. The attempts at the goal were weak, due to the greasy state of the ball. The other match was between Ngatapa Seniors and a team chosen Toy the Rugby Union to play a friendly game. This resulted in a draw —a penalty goal put over by Horsfall for Ngatapa to an unconverted try, scored by O'gilvie, by the town team. The two teams were entertained at afternoon tea, and Mr. L. Plank, who brought out the senior team and acted as referee, thanked the Ngalapa club for providing such refreshments. It is with much pleasure that our supporters anticipate next Saturday’s games. The dance held in the school last Saturday night in aid of the, school funds was a pronounced success. The dunce music was supplied by Miss Nicholson, Mrs. Christensen (piano), and Messrs. Erickson (accordion), T. Norris (violin) and West-nip (piano). During tiie evening a vocal item was contributed by Airs. D. McKay, while a party of native songsters rendered some appreciative numbers.
The ladies’ hockey club held a. practice during the week-end. and the ground was marked out in readiness for more regular service. It is proposed to hold a dance in Hie school next Saturday night in aid of the injured players’ fund. As there will be excellent music, a good floor, and a delicious supper, a. large attendance if anticipated.—(Own correspondent.)
