Childers Rond. No. 2.—Late Whinrny’s Hall (now Plumber's shop), Gladstone Road. No. 3. —School house, Te Hapara. No. 4. —Rusher's Building, Haiti. No. s.—Abercorn Hall, Ormond Road: No. 6.—Late Town Board Office, Man--175 gnpnpa. H. M. PORTER, Returning Officer. POVERTY BAY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. IN offering myself as a Candidate for Membership on the Power Board, 1 will use my utmost endeavors to secure the Waikaremonna scheme for Gisborne, as I am satisfied that Waikaremonna can be procured, if onlv the Electors remain firm. The only obstacle that was formerly preventing the District from getting power from Waikaremoann was the, Waikohu Company, through Clause 58, absolutely giving them a monopoly, but this is now removed, thanks to the. Government. Mv attitude will he to provide this District with cheap hydro-electric power, and if Waikaremonna is for any unforeseen reason not available. T shall certainly go for the next best scheme, irrespective of the locality. In conclusion, I wish to state that I have no axe to grind, and will work solely in the interest of the District, as I have endeavored to do in the past. I GEORGE WILDISH. 093 Mayor. ELECTRIC POWER BOARD • ELECTION (Wednesday, dune 18th). Ladies & gentlemen.W<\. the undersigned, having been nominated by I lie Labor Representation Committee,'offer ourselves as Canriidatees for election to the Electric Power Board. We promise, if elected, to carefully watch the .interest of the people. Whichever scheme is adopted must be subject to independent expert advice, and after very careful investigation and consideration by the Board. It mav be found, however, that we would be better and more economically served b v increasing our own electric plant and extending our own services. If w© adopt any new scheme, whether it he Wnikaremoana or Waikohu, it must- form part of the National scheme. We have no private personal interest to serve. Our interest is th e people’s interest; to see that Gisborne is served' with cheap electric power; We make no ,rash promises, hut pledge, ourselves, to safeguard the interest of the Borough, and work generally for the good of the wlioie dis:rict.
