VISIT OF DOMINION SECRETARY. At the Y.W.C.A. Club rooms yesterday an “at borne*” was given in honor of Miss Esther Anderson, the National General Socretary for the movement in Australia* and New Zealand,, and at present engaged in a two years’ tour of those Dominions lecturing at the various centres. Miss Anderson was introduced by Mrs. C. G. Holdsworth, the local president. Missi Anderson then dealt with the life and work of the modern girl, stating that to attain to* any position the girl must direct her energies in the right direction, and must 'have a* sense of responsibility. the speaker also* dealt in detail with: the work of the Y.W.C.A,, pointing out* that this institution was not isolated from other similar bodies, as were believed by many people, but., to* the contrary, believed in the* fullest* participation in the affairs of tho world. Miss Anderson also outlined the manner in which* the Association accomplished its work, illustrating how new fields were constantly being opened up and new branches established. The institution was nnsectarian, undenominational and unbiased.

The speaker aJso outlined the work of the Y.W.C.A. in. India, and China, and pointed! out that one* of the representatives in India* was* Miss T. T). Meek, recently employed, on the staff o,f the Gisborne High School. Sbngs and recitations were* contributed durincr the afternoon by Miss Parker and Mrs. Terry, respectively.
