The South Africans in their first "imings against. Yorkshire made 111. Coinmaille 24. Bowling: Kilner 4 for 30, Macaulay 4 for 47. Yorkshire, in the second innings, made 142 foi; 3 wickets. Holmes 29, Sutcliffe (not out) 67. The bowlers reaped! a, harvest after lunch on sticky wickets. Five wickets fell in an hour; then Commaille and Blanckeniberg made a. useful stand. Yorkshire had two hours' hatting. The South Afnicams' fielding was excellent. Stumps were drawn.
England's team for the first test against 'South Africa on, June 14th will be chosen from Gilligan,' Fender, Wood, Chapman, Hobbs,' Hendren, Woolltey, Sutciiffe, Kilner, Tate, Parkin, E. Tyldesley.. Chajpnian, the cricketer, is engaged to a sister of Mr. Lowry, a New Zea.lander.
In the match against the South Africans, Yorkshire in the first innings made 236. Blanckenberg took four wickets for 58 and Pegler three for 31. , The weather was warm and bright, the attendance totalling 5000. Yorkshire's innings lasted 505 minutes. The wicket became sticky by lunch. '
