EQUIPPED FOR AEROPLANES.
NOVELTY ON PINNACE
The Dragon has a hangar for a small aeroplane in front of her foremast and. the base for a launching platform. The Dauntless is also equipped in this fashion, but neither carries an aeroplane. The Delhi has a platform which revolves and it is explained tnat an aeroplane can easily be put into flight when the vessel is speeded up. An interesting invention is seen on the steam pinnace of the Delhi. It is a rudder of two curved pieces of brass that together would form half a sphere. Its special advantage is that when the two pieces are closed the boat goes astern without the engine being reversed.
