ARRANGEMENTS TO'RAISE FUNDS
DANCE AND INDOOR SPORTS
At the meeting last night of the com rnittee elected to raise funds for a publictepid bath in Gisborne, there was a large attendance, Mr F. Gray presiding.
Tlie chairman said the art union closes on May 20. and all ticket-book butts must be returned' bv that date: the secretary, Mrs A. Beer, reported that the total funds in hand amounted to £771, comprising £lOl donations and £670 for the sale of tickets. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs N. ITandricks, manager ol Everybody's picture theatre, for arrang iug a special picture programme on May 23, J. Chris)) for voluntarily agreeing to give a gramophone concert, the Gisborrn Boxing Association for the loan of chairs for the occasion, and to the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association, who. through the instrumentality of Mr A. S. Parker, had procured two sheep to be submitted at the Matawhero yards to day in aid o' the funds.
Tt was arranged that a “spotting week’ scheme proposed by Mr M. Fry be adopted, and Messrs M. Fry. A. Stoneham, A. E. Davy, C. Adair and A. F. Liiigi'fdge were elected n committee to carry out the proposal.
Mr C. Church moved that an indoor sports -meeting be held in the Garrison hall and' that Mr A. E. Davy be appointed organiser.—Carried unanimously. Mr C. Brown proposed that the meeting be extended l over two nights.—The chairman said be was sure the proposa’ would meet with the approval of Mr Davy.
Mrs Heenev moved that a fancy dress masked carnival be held in aid of the funds. The motion was carried, and Mesdnmes .T. Pollock, Heeney, Walsh and Stephenson, and Messrs ,T. Pollock. L. Albrecht, If. Bennett, and C‘. Church were elected a committee to further the proposal.
