The Times’ Ostend correspondent says: Although an Allied agreement has not yet been reached with regard t° the application: of the experts’ proposals, progress is undoubtedly being made in ccmheotiion therewith. The conferences .which MM. Theu.nis and Hymans have had! with M. Poincare and Mr MacDonald seem to have done much to clean’ tho air.

The Belgian, .Ministers arrived at Osteimd this afternoon from London. M. Theuinis said: “We discussed the. broad lines of the reparation .problem in the light of Otoe experts’ plan, It is indispensable there should be goodwill. it is evident Mr MacDonald is animated by an undeniable desire to reach ahi agreement. He does not conceal his sympathies with France. We return favorably impressed.”

, M. Hymans, when asked if an interAillied C'onferene may be looked for in the near future, replied: “That is a difficult ,question >to answer. There is certainly an Allied agreement at the moment, and judging by the conversations I had such a! conference may be nearer than one may think.” Both Ministers declared that strict secrecy with regard' to what transpired at Chequers was most, essential in the interests of Allied unity.
