£52,000 GIFT FOR THE DEAF.
LONDON, Dec. 8, The Senate of the University of London announce important extensions of their research work fur the benefit of the deaf. They have accepted a. gift of £IO,OOO to found a, Chair of Otology, and the donor, Mr. Geoffrey E. Duveen, intends to allocate a- further £15,000 to the University College Hospital for the provision of the most complete and modern treatment of the deaf. The double gift is made in memory of the donor's father, Mr. Henry J. Duveen, one of the founders of the art firm of Duveen Brothers, of London, Paris, and 1 Now York. Mr. Geoffrey Duveen, who has himself suffered from esur trouble for years, lost his only brother from the same cause, fallowing upon an attack of scarlet fever.
