LARGELY DIMINISHED TRANSACTIONS.
(Router's Telegram.t (Received January 2, 11.50 a.m.) ' LONDON, Jap. J. The annual statement- shows that bills and cheques paid to the Bankers' Clearing House last year amounted to £36,627,592,000, a. decrease on tha previous year of £533,869,000. Ninety-five per cent, of the decrease occurred in town clearings. The first three quarters showed an aggregate decreaso of £1,001,572,000. . The last quarter showed a satisfactory increase of £467,793,000.
