PEACE SHIELD TOURNAMENT. The animal tournament for the Peace Shield was started yesterday morning, under ideal weather conditions, but shortly after play commenced a high wind'sprang up/and both on tho Ulsborno and Poverty Bay greens play was very diflicult-. Despite this fact."some excellent bowling was witnessed, and mi the first clay's play it is hard to predict the. probable winner of the handsome shield. Mr. J. Allan, on behalf of the Gisborae, Bowling- Centre, extended the season's greetings i<> all prior to the commencement of play, and in a neat speech portrayed the happenings leading up (o tho inauguration of the?
