THE COMPETITIONS.

The competitions were continued this afternoon, there being an excellent attendance of the public. The following arc the earlier results of this afternoon's performances:—

RECITATION. Bovs 14 and under 18. (''The Searchlights.") FINAL. Stanley Vincent (73 points) '... 1 Rawiri Morris (72 points) . ... 2 Also competed: Eru Katerie.-. The lines of this piece, said the judge, should be given in a very vigorous tone, and much stronger than any of the competitors gave it. The piece should be worked up to a climax, and all the competitors failed in this respect. Eru Katene gave a nice rendering, but even he lacked the vigor necessary to the piece. Rawiri Morris gave a very creditable performance, which was marred someV w.hat by the slow and measured fashion in which he took it.

Fancy or Graceful Dance (under 9, own accompaniste): Recalls—Peggy Gunn, Rayna Edwards, and Patricia Burke.

Also competed : Joan Aislabie, Aileen Bryan, Marie Shone, Diana Rutledge, and Nancy Martin.
