DESERTED FAMILIES.
HUSBANDS IGNORE ORDERS

Strong comment was made at the Hospital Board on the number of deserted families it had to provide for. Cases were quoted where a husband would do nothing despite orders made against him, and it was said there were .-it least 24 of them. In one instance, a man went away, and the police wanted £3O to bring him hack. It was also stated that £20,000 unpaid fees were written oIV last year, and the amount would he more like £30,000 this year, though tt|i attempt would he imttle to recover some of the monev.
