The se.vonth' annual festival of the Gisborne" Competitions Society com mences in the Opera' House to-morrow at 2 p.m. ... '. .. .... , To-morrow's programme is published in this issue, together with prices of ad mission, etc. For. some years now the competitions festival has been one of the most popular: events of tho year, and this year there,is probably greater interest being showbill,it -than over before. The'entries constitute a fresh record, totalling; over 880 as compared with 740 last year; the comparison in the differ ent sections being as under: Choruses and action songs, (1023) 6, (1922) 4, instrumental music, 95—83, vocal music 210t-tl6O, elocution 320—354, story with. out woi'ds 6 —4, loi-minutes' entertainment 3r~4, comedietta. 2—3, physical drill s—lo, dancing 490—82, literature 49—37. . The committee is anxious not to disappoint any of the public, and members who not using their reserved scats any rifght'are requested to notify the secretary in order that as many seats as possible may be made available, the morning programmes will commence each day at 9.15, afternoon 2 o clock, and evening 7.30.
