OLYMPIC GAMES.
RUGBY TEAM FOR HOME. iper Press -issoelailon.l WELLINGTON, this day. At a meeting of the Olympic Council, a motion was passed recognising the right of riflemen who compered for money prizes competing at, Olympic games. The High Commissioner notified that Dominion teams would have to enter through English football and rowing bodies. Mr. Doan said the New Zealand Rugby Union would go Home independently of any other body. Asked if the Rugby Union would assist the council with funds, he said “No.” The Imperial aspect of the games had disappeared. They had been handed over to a stadium committee at the Empire Exhibition, and it might bo a private enterprise. COMMONWEALTH OFFERS. (Received July 24, 11.15 ia.m.) MELBOURNE, July 24. The Commonwealth has promised to donate £3OOO towards the expenses of the Australian Olympic team, if the Olympic Federation raises the remaining £IO,OOO necessary, or pro rata if the £IO,OOO is not raised.
