WATERFRONT LABOR.
SCHEME FOR CONTROL. TRIAL AT WELLINGTON. {Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. Addressing members of the Wellington Watersiders’ Union at their animal slopwork meeting, the president, Mr. L. Glover, expressed regret that the scheme Tor centralised control of waterfront labor had not been given a longer trial than two months, at the end of which time the Union had voted it out, for it was impossible ini so short! a space of time to test the system as it should have been tested. 110 hoped that, though that system had been . turned aside, members would take further steps to bring about a bolter and more equitable system of engaging labor on the waterfront, and suggest'd that a committees consisting of ono working member from each section, om the waterfront, should be set up to go fully* into the' whole question of casual employment and more equal distribution of work, such committee to report at a later meeting.
