(Special to the Herald.) I CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Nominations have closed for the New Zealand hockey team to tour Australia, and while the names are not available tor publication, about twenty players have expressed their willingness to go : including nine of last year's New Zealand team,, which defeated Australia by 6 goals to 5. No Canterbury men are available, although all those selected from Canterbury for the team were asked and they had to decline- owing to business and other reasons. | , WAIRARAPA v. WAIKOHU. SOUTHERN VISITORS' VICTORY. The Wairarapa men's' hockey eleven yesterday defeated the Waikohu representatives, at To Karaka, by five goals* to nil. The game was witnessed by a large gathering, and proved a highly interesting display of hockey, though the southern 1 visitors had throughout ;<ri" fair margin of superiority. The ground was damp, but otherwise good, and the combination of the Wairarapa forwards showed- to advantage on nuinorous occasions -when they undertook raids on the home circle. Their experi orace in representative fixtures was u big asset, and was rendered more apparent by the comparison with the Wai kohu team, which wasted a good deal of effort in fruitless rushes that failed through lack of support or faulty pass ing. The Waikohu team's display was. considering the calibre of the opposition. a. good one, McLachlan and Graham were prominent among the To Karaka forwards, and Lockhart was tisetfu." among the backs. Poverty Bay Hockey Association, held last evening, 'the following delegates were present: Mr. A. P. Stubbings (chairman), Miss, Nowey, and Messrs. Henderson, McGerty, Please, Morris, Sim, Q. Pile, Smith, Haapu, and Clark. Tho secretary was instructed to wiry Taranaki, suggesting July 19th as a.suitable date for the Nordon Cup challenge match. It was decided to procure a cup, to be Known as the "P.B. H.A. Ladies' 7-asjde Cup," for annual competition at the 7 aside tourney. The winners of the recent tourney, Kia Tea, to have their name inscribed on if. The following committee was set uj> to arrange the Haapu Rose Bowl competition : Messrs. G..
