The British Museum has acquired a fine copy of a Shakespeare first folio for £13,500, most of which was contributed by an anonymous donor. The annual report of the Empire Press Union expresses the hope that next conference will bo held in Australia and that New Zealand will bo included in the itinerary. Lloyd's Register gives tho quarterly shipbuilding returns, deducting 130 whereon work has b'aen suspended. The total tonnage being constructed in Great Britain and Ireland is 1,208,000, which is 682 below tho average for the year immediately prior pre-war period. The tonnage building abroad is 1,206,000, whereof that of Germany and Danzig amounts to 352,000, France 171,000, Italv 141,000, United States. 134,000, Holland 100,000.
