DUEL WITH RAZORS
TERRIBLE FIGHT ON SHIP.
SEAMAN BADLY INJURED
SYDNEY, April 28.—Two seamen of tho steamer Trekieve, now in Sydney, James Riley, a West Indian, and Charles Gray, an American, quarrelled' over a woman on Thursday night and there followed a terrible fight between them with razors.
(in Friday Riley, aged' 29, was at the Sydney Police Court, charged with having inflicted' grievous bodily harm on Gray.
The police, asking for a remand, naid ; that the quarrel occurred on the deck of the ship after a short argument. The men agreed to settle the matter with razors, and 1 t,li e tight was to be to the death. Gray was severely cut about the chest and forehead, and' there was a severe gash on his throat, necessitating an operation. Ho was removed' toi Sydney hospital. The injured man has slitrhtly improved! after the operation, though he will"have to remain in hospital for some time. Accused las been remanded' until May 4. Bail was not applied 1 for.
