PEEP SHOW TRAGEDY.

EXPLANATION BY HOSPITAL AUTHORITIES.

(Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day

In connection with the death of Mias Phyllis Porter, of the Peep Show Company, the hospital authorities deny that a telephone message was received, stating that the case was on the way to the hospital. The first intimation was at the hospital about 8.30, when a man asked for a stretcher, stating that a child had been burned. The doctor went out to the motor car, but was told the patient was in too much pain to be examined in the car. At the children's ward it was found that the patient was an adult, and she was ordered to ward two. This ward was not notified of the case, and on arrival no bed was ready, so that the sister in charge, realising it was an urgent case, sent the case on to ward No. 1, where the patient could get immediate attention. The patient was in bed at 8.45. The Hospital Board is to thoroughly investigate the circumstances.
