GHEERiFUL FIGURES

Returns received by cable concerning the sale of Poverty Bay clips in the current wool sale at London have a .most cheerful tone. The -prices quoted are such as will give the producers approximately the same return as tho wool would’ have made had it been sold at the January sales at Napier, when tlie peak of this season was reached. One local clip % of over a hundred bales realised an average price of 14-fd per lb. Another clip brought for fleeces, and for its scoured pieces and bellies. Averages of lljd, 13d, 123 d, and 13gd respectively have been returned for. greasy wools of other dips. ,

The significant feature of these returns is that they indicate an infinitely better tone, in the London market than obtained at the. last series. When, after the, cheerful January sales-in/New Zealand, the prices in the Dominion slipped hack badly, they reflected tho movement of the Homo market.. Tho returns now coming to hand indicate a recovery at Home, which will undoubtedly he felt out here very shortly. The farmers will have little to grouse about, this year if the wool' market should recover to the January level. Many dips are realising. 5d a’ pound more this season than last, and 5d per lb. on a medium dip ,represents the difference between fanning at a'‘loss And farming at a comfortable, profit.-
