The' Daily Express' Paris correspondent says: The relations between the Turks and 1 French are very strained. The whole country is solidly behind! the Government in its refusal to accept the Turkish bonds in French paper francs. The questions interest every village in Fiance, where peasants and. shopkeepers are determined that Turkish bonds shall not be brought oin a level with Russian bond's.

ATHENS, April 29.
General Cladas has returned after being a prisoner in Turkey. He declares the Kemalist army is in a lamentable state, miserably equipped, and poorly nourished. The Turks are anxious for peace. The war party in the last Angora Assembly only numbered sixty. The dissolution was primarily due to Kcmal's desire to paralyse the war party's effort. General Cladas states Kemal is confident the electors will vote for peace. The Soviet is assisting the Turkish army with foodstuffs, sent via the Caucasus.

(Received May 1, 9.30 a.m.) I LONDON, April 30. The Daily Express's Alliens correspondent states tho Turks seized the contents of strong boxes belonging to Greek clients of tho Orient Bank in Smyrna. It is believed they intend to do the same at other banks. It is officially stated that if (he Turks seize all the Greeks' deposits, aggregating, two and a half millions sterling, Greece will regard it as an act of war.

General Pelle, interviewed! by the Matin, expressed confidence in the wiccossful conclusion of the Lausanne Coufcreftco. Ismel) repeatedly desired' toi see Franco-Turkish misunderstandings dtigipelled. Unfortunately Kemal's views were different, but General Pelle did! not believe his threatening gestures with reference to France need cause uneasiness: Ho was convinced Angola was aware of the hazards involvedi in the resumption of hostilities.
