ADVANCE NORTHWARD.

NORTH AUCKLAND RAILWAY

The North Auckland Main Trunk railway is. being continued-.north of Waiotira and! a start has been made on the Tokatoka tunnel. Two shifts are working at the southern end, and 100 men are now. engaged'on this line. The 'jig" over the hill is about completed', and a. start will be made at the other end of' the tunnel.

It is hoped shortly ta start tho Y.M.C.A. hut service at Waiotira. A money-order offica and savings bank has been established there.

The Public Works Department's train service on the main line is working very satisfactorily, and it is hoped to start.a through goods service next week. Goodprogress on this section —HuarauWhangaroi is being made. The permanent railway bridge at Taparewa lias now been buiit and! the girders placed in position. The "gap" bridge alone now awaits completion. The girders are being put together and it)' is hoped '.to have them placed in position at the end of this Week, thus completing all the bridges on the permanent railway.
