The need for more extensivo advertising on the part of the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association was stressed at a meeting of the general committee by Mr. L. If. Collinson. Ho stated that, for ' the Waikato Winter Show, £SOO was spent in advertising, whereas the Manawatu Association had expended only about £7B in this connection. Ho exhibited a full page advertisement inserted by die Waikato Association, and expressed the belief that much better results could be achieved by more extensive adveriising of the correct type. If they were to set aside 10 per cent, of the Winter Show gate receipts for this purposo they would get a .further £l5O, and the returns from increased advertising would, in ]iis opinion, amply just fy the expenditure. He moved that the finance committeo enquire whether a further £l5O could not be expended on advertising. The treasurer, Mr. J. M. Johnson, seconded the motion, and concurred with the views expressed by tho previous speaker, stressing tho fact that extended advertising would have to be done by experts. Mr. T. It. Hodder spoko in like strain, stating that at; least more extensive advertising, exe- j tuted by experts, could be given a fa''* trial in order to ascertain what would bo tho financial result. Again, certain classes should be advertised more fully and earlier, as they involved a deal of preparation, and in this regard he instanced needlework. The mover then amended his motion to read: "That, immediately after the annual meeting, steps bo taken to institute'an extended advertising campaign for the Spring Show.' This was carried.
