A fireman named Finn, on the steamer Mahia, sustained such serious injuries in a brawl on the ship that he was taken to hospital. It is stated that the injured man struck Tomkinson,' rf greaser, with a hammer, knocking him senseless. When others had dealt with Finn, Tomkinson received attention on the ship.
