DARGAVILLE, this day. The official recount on the Mayoral ejection - gives Mr. R. E. Hornblow a majority of only nine over his opponent, Mr. A. J. Stallworthy. A fire was discovered in Victoria Street, in the heart of the town, at 10.45 o'clock last night, in a building owned by Cost'ello and occupied by 11. W. Davies, plumber. The building was a very old structure, but the brigade made a splendid save. Not a great deal of damage was done. It is fully covered bv insurance.

The Court of Appeal this morning further adjourned the hearing of an application to strike A. L. Denniston off the rolls of barristers and (solicitors. The hearing was deferred until next sittings of the Court.

A dispute has arisen between the growers of vegetables and auctioneers in connection with alterations in the latter's charges and the disposal of Backs and boxes. It is stated that the auctioneers want to sell the containers with the produce not allowing the grower anything. The growers threatened to fipnd in produce loose and the auctioneers decided to' increase, the •commission on loose produce from 10 to per cent. The producers meet foniffht to discuss matters, the suggestion being that the markets should be boycotted. OHRTSTCHUROH, this day.
